The Netherlands experienced a significant decrease in winter wheat harvest in 2024, with gross yields at their lowest in 25 years at 682 thousand tons. This is primarily due to poor yields caused by rainy weather in 2023. However, there was an increase in the harvest of flax and industrial hemp. Other crops such as consumer potatoes and sugar beets also saw a decrease in yields. Onion yields increased by 13.2%, and barley by 3.8%. Despite challenging conditions, the gross harvest of onion-seed increased by 11.7% due to an increase in area. The development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 22nd International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN. EUROPE-2025 in Prague.
