The number of cows in Ukraine decreased by more than 13%

In the conditions of the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the dairy industry, despite the disrupted supply chains between the farm, the dairy and the trade network, the loss of livestock, the blocking of business and exports, has adapted to new realities and challenges, the Committee on Agrarian and Land Affairs informs politicians. Today, according to the Association of Milk Producers, the number of cows in Ukraine as of December 1, 2022 was 1.38 million, which is 13.9% or 233.7 thousand.
In the conditions of the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the dairy industry, despite the disrupted supply chains between the farm, the dairy and the trade network, the loss of livestock, the blocking of business and exports, has adapted to new realities and challenges, the Committee on Agrarian and Land Affairs informs politicians Today, according to the Association of Milk Producers, the number of cows in Ukraine as of December 1, 2022 was 1.38 million, which is 13.9% or 233.7 thousand less than in 2021. As noted, during the period of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine lost 172,700 cows. According to the preliminary data of the State Statistics Service, which do not include the data of the occupied territories, the industrial dairy sector lost 37.7-50 thousand cows. According to the State Statistics Service as of December 1, 2022: dairy farms kept 386 thousand cows, which is 8.4% or 35.6 thousand less than in the corresponding period of 2021; ...
