Under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar, the results of the measures taken for the sustainable management of the saiga population were reviewed, reports Agrosektor.kz with reference to the press service of the Government. According to the Ministry of Ecology, the saiga population in Kazakhstan has reached a record level of 4 million individuals today and after the rut in 2026 will be around 5 million individuals. Given such rapid growth, the authorized bodies, based on the biological rationale prepared by the Institute of Zoology, carried out measures for the sustainable management of the animal population to prevent damage to agriculture and maintain the ecosystem balance. Thus, from July 1 to November 30 of this year, around 196,000 individuals were removed, and the carcasses were handed over to domestic meat processing enterprises.
