The oilseed industry in Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its position by expanding the acreage of oilseed crops, increasing processing volumes, and growing export potential. In 2025, the area sown with oilseed crops reached 3.9 million hectares, which is 37.7% (1.1 million hectares) more compared to 2024. A significant increase was recorded for sunflower, with its sown area increasing by 38.4% to an additional 491.1 thousand hectares. The majority of the sown areas are concentrated in the North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Pavlodar, Akmola, East Kazakhstan regions, and the Abay region. According to preliminary data from the akimats, in 2025, the gross harvest of oilseed crops amounted to 4.8 million tons, whereas in 2024, this figure reached 3.3 million tons. In particular, the sunflower harvest increased to 2.3 million tons from 1.8 million tons a year earlier.
