Against the backdrop of reduced sowing areas and dry weather in Siberia. The pea harvest in Russia in 2026 may decrease by 10–15% compared to the record gross yield of last year. This assessment was given to the magazine Pole.RF by the head of the analytical agency Russian Pulses Analytics, Sergey Pluzhnikov. According to him, the final result will depend, among other things, on the harvest in central Russia and Siberia. "It is still unclear how the central part of Russia and Siberia will be harvested, but I would assume a decrease in the harvest by 10–15% due to a possible reduction in areas. Plus, in some places in Altai and Siberia it is quite dry," noted Pluzhnikov. According to the results of 2025, Russia harvested a record 5.7 million tons of peas, which is 50.3% more than the 2024 figure of 3.8 million tons, according to Rosstat data. At the same time, the sowing areas for the crop last year decreased slightly: from 2.22 to about 2.16 million hectares. The final data on sowing areas in 2026 has not yet been published by Rosstat.
