Dragon fruit farmers in Binh Thuan province are facing significant losses due to a sharp decrease in selling price and increased transportation costs. The current selling price is only 500 to 1,500 VND/kg, whereas they need to sell off-season fruit at 10,000 VND/kg to break even. The price drop is attributed to congestion in road exports and limited sea exports due to container shortages and high transportation costs. Additionally, the cost of exporting dragon fruit to China has tripled, and when transported to the border, the fruit cannot clear customs, leading to damage and further financial losses.
