The Malaysian government has reduced the retail price of grade A, B, and C chicken eggs by 3 cents per egg, now priced at 42 sen, 40 sen, and 38 sen respectively, as part of a broader effort to return subsidy benefits to the public. This initiative, costing RM100 million and with a total subsidy allocation of RM927 million for 2023, also includes measures against diesel smuggling, with 6.44 million liters seized worth RM14.12 million. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted that subsidies are being managed more efficiently to benefit sectors like education, health, and public transport. Additionally, the government has maintained the price of bottled pure palm cooking oil despite rising global crude palm oil prices.
