Ukraine: The price of potatoes doubled last season, experts named the reasons

In Ukraine, potatoes have risen in price by an average of 20% in a week and cost from 10 to 14 UAH/kg, which is approximately twice the value of the same period last year. This is reported by EastFruit. Producers said that the reasons for the price increase are high demand and reduced supply of potatoes from small farms. Analysts note that unfavorable weather conditions do not allow most manufacturers to ship their own products to the market. According to market operators, despite the increase in prices, the demand for potatoes has not decreased. In such conditions, experts come to the conclusion that farmers will try to raise the prices of the corresponding products in the future.
