In 2023, the European Union (EU27) saw a 3% decline in poultry meat exports, totaling 2 million tons, with notable decreases in exports to Ukraine, Congo, Saudi Arabia, and Ghana, while maintaining stable exports to the UK. On the other hand, poultry meat imports into the EU increased by 5%, reaching 894,000 tons, mainly from Brazil and Ukraine, with chicken exports up by 2% and turkey exports by 39%. Hungary experienced a significant 29% drop in poultry meat imports, particularly in chicken meat, though turkey meat imports rose. Additionally, Hungary's live weight producer prices for slaughter chickens and turkeys saw a substantial decrease in the first thirteen weeks of 2024 compared to the previous year.
