The Ministry of Food Industry, Commodities, and Regional Development in Sarawak plans to establish a 'Cocoa Belt' in a specific area to strengthen the cocoa industry in the region. The area, from Asajaya to Simunjan, is close to a cocoa processing factory and will ensure a consistent supply of dry cocoa beans for chocolate production. The ministry has also implemented various programs to increase cocoa production, as well as focusing on improving the pepper and palm oil industries in the region.
