Ukraine has successfully harvested 7.7 million tons of sugar beets from 164.6 thousand hectares, with a slightly lower sugar content compared to the previous year. As of November 3, 29 sugar factories have been operational, producing three times more sugar than last year, and processing 5.54 million tons of sugar beets. Despite the increased sugar production and supply, due to reduced exports, the domestic market has seen a significant rise in sugar prices, leading to imports of sugar from countries like Brazil, Poland, Germany, and Lithuania. Ukraine is projected to produce approximately 1.3 million tons of sugar in 2021, following a 25% reduction in production in the previous season due to unfavorable weather conditions.
