The Senate has asked the Government to "institutionalize" the Rural Guarantee Mechanism (MRG) to improve the situation in rural areas and ensure that the fight against challenges such as depopulation and aging in these areas are present in the General State Budget (PGE). The measure, a Bill proposed by the Popular Group, was approved in the Senate plenary session with 156 votes in favor, 93 against, and 11 abstentions. Approximately 84% of the national territory is rural, although only 16% of the population resides in it, explained the Popular Group spokesperson María Carmen Isabel Pobo, who added that "every day, the population is more aged and the birth rate is lower".
