Club varieties of fruit are being considered by some fruit growers in Poland as a way to improve profitability in the industry. However, the share of these varieties in Western markets remains quite small, with Italy having a 10% market share of retail sales. Critics argue that in Poland, the market share for club varieties may only reach 2-3% of total sales, equivalent to about 250-350 hectares of land. Additionally, the trend in Europe is increasing production of club varieties, with an estimated half a million tonnes to be produced in the 2023/24 season.
