The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFA) of South Korea has announced measures to stabilize the prices of horticultural products due to a poor cabbage harvest caused by high temperatures and drought. With wholesale cabbage prices averaging 9,537 won and retail prices between 20,000 to 23,000 won, MAFA will import fresh cabbage from China for the fifth time. The first batch of 16 tons will arrive on the 27th, with potential for more imports depending on China's production. The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Distribution Corporation will distribute the imported cabbage to catering companies and food suppliers. Additionally, the government will provide subsidies for early cabbage release and support discount promotions in major supermarkets to reduce consumer costs.
