Spain's stone fruit production is projected to double to 1.5 million tons in the current campaign, following a year of low production due to severe drought. The increase is attributed to favorable fruit development and lack of serious weather accidents. However, the production could be compromised by water scarcity, as the Ebro Valley, a major supply region, is experiencing very low reservoir levels. The nectarine is expected to be the highest yielding fruit. The sector is hopeful for balanced prices that can cover increased production costs, following the Fluid market behavior and stable prices in consumption regions in Europe.
