Entre Ríos cattle farming is facing a health problem that threatens to become much more serious if action is not taken in time. Similar to Corrientes, the spread of the bovine tick in the north and center of the province is raising alarms. A report prepared by the Entre Ríos Cereal Exchange together with District 7 of the Argentine Rural Society estimated that annual economic losses could be around 94.5 million dollars, while eradicating the disease would cost about 35 million dollars. The magnitude of the damage is better understood when translated into productive equivalents. The value of these losses is similar to 97,111 pregnant heifers, which represents 40% of the total provincial stock of young cattle. The blow is not only for individual producers but also for the Entre Ríos economy.
