Shanghai hairy crabs, a delicacy in China, have been successfully farmed in Vietnam and sold at a much lower price, around 450-650 thousand VND/kg. Vietnamese farmers have started large-scale production of these crabs, which look and taste similar to their Chinese counterparts. The cost varies based on the gender of the crab. The demand for these crabs in the domestic market is high, and there are plans for export. The crabs are easy to breed and are not susceptible to diseases common in shrimp and sea crab farming.
