The value of beef production in Spain in 2024 increased by 12% compared to the previous year and reached 4,452 million euros. This volume represents 16% of the value of the total national livestock production and places beef in third place, after pork and the dairy sector. The data, collected in the annual economic indicators report of the beef sector published on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, attest that Spain is the third largest beef producer in the European Union (EU), with almost 12% of the value of the total production of 38,254 million euros. Across Europe, the increase in production (5%) was significantly lower than that recorded in Spain, 5%. The production volume exceeded 718,000 tons, 3% more than in 2023, a figure that places Spain as the third country in the European Union, which as a whole is the fourth largest producer in the world.
