The All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council (UAC) is initiating legislative changes to protect farmers whose lands are being used for fortifications in frontline areas.
Draft Law No. 14117 — "On Compensation to Owners and Users of Land Plots on Which Fortifications Are Located," prepared by UAC experts, provides for compensation to farmers for the loss of the ability to cultivate such plots and to pay taxes.
"We are initiating a draft law on fortifications so that farmers in frontline areas, whose lands are being used by the military, can receive compensation. After all, they have no harvest, yet they still have to pay taxes and rent, which is a huge expense for small producers," said Deputy Head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denys Marchuk during a speech on "Unified News."
He also emphasized that additional support tools for producers should include preferential loans and state agrarian insurance.
