The EU's trade surplus in the food industry reached 4.6 billion euros in July. This is 19% higher than in June but lower than the same month last year, according to the European Commission (EC). The EU's total surplus for the first seven months of the year is 26.5 billion euros. This is 12.2 billion euros less compared to the same period in 2024, mainly due to higher import prices from the EU, particularly for cocoa and coffee. Exports of agricultural food from the EU reached 20.7 billion euros in July 2025, which is 8% more than in June and approximately stable compared to July 2024. Since January, the cumulative exports amount to 139.4 billion euros, an increase of 2.7 billion euros (+2%) compared to the same period in 2024, largely due to higher prices.
