The United States has released an updated National Aquaculture Development Plan, marking the first change in over 40 years. The plan emphasizes aquaculture as a climate-smart food source and highlights its potential to enhance food security. It also aims to boost contributions to public health, resilient communities, economic growth, and environmental health. The updated plan integrates several strategic frameworks, including a new Strategic Plan for Aquaculture Economic Development. Aquaculture has also been beneficial for over 70 endangered or threatened species by enhancing wild populations through the rearing of seedstock and fingerlings.
