(Yeoju=Yonhap News) Reporter Woo-sung Lee = Yeoju City's local specialty, sweet potatoes, have launched a new brand, "King Sejong's Yeoju Sweet Potato," to win over consumers.
The Yeoju Sweet Potato Research Association (130 farms, total cultivation area 1,670 hectares) announced on the 18th that a launch ceremony for the "King Sejong's Yeoju Sweet Potato" brand was held on the 16th at the Sejong the Great Agricultural Cooperative parking lot in Sejong-daewang-myeon.
Recently, due to the circulation of some low-quality products and inconsistent packaging designs, consumer trust has somewhat declined. To address this, the new brand "King Sejong's Yeoju Sweet Potato" was introduced to restore its reputation.
This brand embodies the identity of "Yeoju, the city of King Sejong," and is expected to help standardize the quality of Yeoju sweet potatoes, improve the distribution structure, and strengthen consumer-focused marketing.
After the brand launch ceremony, the Sejong the Great Agricultural Cooperative was designated as the "first sales outlet" for the newly branded Yeoju sweet potatoes.
Yeon-gyu Lee, chairman of the Yeoju Sweet Potato Research Association, said, "This brand launch will be an opportunity to restore the reputation of Yeoju sweet potatoes and revive the pride of local farmers. We will develop it as a symbiotic brand created by farmers and citizens together."
