In 2025, the area sown with sugar beets in Ukraine decreased by 14.6% to 216.7 thousand hectares. The main reasons were export restrictions and sugar supply quotas to the EU, significant transitional residues, reduced economic attractiveness of the crop, competition for land from grains and oilseeds, and high cultivation costs. This was reported on the "KVS-UKRAINE" Facebook page with a reference to UkrAgroConsult. High sowing rates were due to low moisture reserves after winter and early temperature increases. At the same time, the yield of this season was significantly affected by the lack of precipitation in July-August. As of the beginning of September, the average sugar content of beets was 11.7% (minimum 6.2%, maximum 17.2%), with an average yield of 46.9 tons per hectare.
