Despite concerns about a decline in seafood sales due to contaminated water from Fukushima, Japan, the government of Korea has stated that there have been no signs of a decrease in consumption. Sales of seafood at large supermarkets increased 26.6% following the release of contaminated water, and sales at retail stores and restaurants also saw significant increases. To further stimulate consumption, the government plans to hold a series of discount events until the end of the year, starting with the "Korea Fisheries Fair - Fall Special Exhibition".
