Spanish producers and traders are introducing lesser-known, exotic fruits like caviar lemon, kumquat, and pitaya (dragon fruit) to the European market. These fruits, due to a lack of awareness and undeveloped transport routes, are currently imported. Caviar lemon, a sour, vitamin-rich Australian fruit, is marketed for its unique taste and texture, similar to caviar. Kumquat, a citrus fruit from China, is known for its high mineral and vitamin content. Pitaya or dragon fruit, originating from South America, is consumed for its unique taste and high vitamin content. Due to their heat-demanding and sensitive nature, the cultivation of these fruits is currently limited to southern European regions, if at all.
