The Union of Independent Livestock Farmers denounced a new decrease in the price of goat milk in Spain

The Union of Independent Livestock Farmers (UGI) has denounced a new decrease in the price of goat milk, which is leading goat farms to a complex economic situation due to lack of profitability. Spanish goat milk producers face a new quarter with falling prices, since January 1, 2024 the accumulated decrease is between 20-25 cents per liter, they have indicated. They have pointed out that the cause is the import of raw materials that dairy companies make from other countries in the European Union, such as Holland, to meet their production and which they buy at a lower price. For UGI, this decision by the industrial sector is “incomprehensible,” since goat milk from those areas has a lower cheese yield.
