They Got Angry at Prices and Distributed 50 Tons of Free Watermelon

The Osmaneli watermelon producer, registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Institution in 2022, was not satisfied with the prices this year, with watermelons bought for 1 lira in the field and sold for 10 lira in markets. While the producer states that intermediaries are making money in between, Bilecik Municipality found a solution. By agreeing with the producer and collecting the harvest from the fields, Bilecik Municipality distributed the watermelons free of charge in the city center and neighborhood residences.
