The Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) of Jumilla wine has closed the harvest with nearly 49 million kilos of grapes, one more than the previous year, and a vintage of great quality is expected with very balanced wines, with good body, structure, flavor, and fruit intensity. After the last three years of extreme drought, a period of recovery of the vineyards began with spring rains after a calm winter, with a hailstorm in May that affected 4,700 and heat in August that accelerated ripening and brought forward the grape harvests. The grapes arrived at the winery in excellent sanitary condition, with complete maturity and good concentration but with very restrained joy for the producers, since once again the average yields were very low, below 2,000 kilos per hectare, which places this PDO with one of the lowest in Spain and the world.
