The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) and the Agrifood and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP) in Mexico conducted a tour of the Mexicali Valley to monitor the phenological development of the cotton crop. They took 50 random samples of various crops and used an electronic device called a Mobile Map to record the route, georeference the points, and take photos for documentation. This information is crucial for making important decisions for the farmers. Despite the advancement of 56% in the spring-summer 2020 agricultural cycle, planting 18,254 hectares in the Mexicale Valley, Sader and SIAP monitor statistical information on the production of Mexican agriculture at the national level for over 550 products and the monthly advance of plantings and harvests for 64 strategic products.
