The hunting season for local small and large game, as well as wild boar, will commence on October 2, 2021, according to the Executive Forest Agency. The hunting of wild boar in groups will be restricted to no more than two days within a week, instead of the previous three, in an effort to conserve the species, which has been significantly affected by African swine fever. This decision is part of a larger strategy to manage the population of wild boar in areas where numbers have dropped below the biological minimum.
