The Altai region in Russia is experiencing a decline in soybean demand, both internally and externally. Agricultural producers, including the bankrupt South Siberia agricultural holding and Yuri Kalinin's Kadnikovskoe farm, are facing challenges due to reduced market interest and export restrictions, despite a successful harvest. The region has been growing soybeans since the 1930s and experienced a surge during the Brezhnev era. However, in the 1990s, soybean cultivation declined. Currently, the industry is plagued by issues such as obtaining phytosanitary certificates and border queues, leading to contract cancellations from Kazakhstan. Despite these challenges, farms are focusing on increasing yield and high-protein soybean crops.
