Areca trees are becoming a popular crop in Tien Phuoc district, Quang Nam province, Vietnam, due to their ease of care and high economic efficiency. After five years, each tree begins to bear fruit, with a yield of 3-4 fruit chambers per year, each weighing 8-10kg. The harvest season lasts from January to June. Mr. Quan and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Binh, along with many other farmers, have switched from growing acacia to areca, and are seeing significant income benefits. Areca nut is sold for 50,000 to 100,000 VND/kg, and the trees are also favored for their long, large, and heavy fruits. The Dat Quang Organic Agriculture Cooperative cultivates 100,000-150,000 areca seedlings annually, and areca plantations are expanding as farmers find it profitable and sustainable.
