(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Han Ju-hong = The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for African Swine Fever (ASF) announced on the 13th that ASF outbreaks have been confirmed at pig farms in Jeongeup, North Jeolla Province (4,882 pigs), Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang Province (2,759 pigs), and Hongseong County, South Chungcheong Province (2,900 pigs). The number of ASF outbreaks this year has increased to 14 cases, more than double the total number of cases last year (6 cases). The Central Headquarters reported that the results of virus gene analysis of 10 farms where outbreaks occurred this year showed that two farms in Pocheon had a genotype (IGR-Ⅱ) similar to the virus originating from domestic wild boars, but the remaining eight farms (Gangneung, Anseong, Yeongguang, Gochang, Boryeong, Changnyeong, Hwaseong, Naju) had a different genotype (IGR-Ⅰ) confirmed.
