The area dedicated to sesame cultivation in Paraguay has grown by 27% to around 70,000 hectares this year, according to Gilberto Osorio, president of the Paraguayan Chamber of Sesame Exporters (CAPEXSE). This expansion is anticipated to result in a very good harvest due to favorable weather conditions and reasonable market prices. Peasant farmers are drawn to sesame farming for its ease and competitive prices, with the harvest expected to begin in January. In 2020, Paraguay produced 37,338 tons of sesame from 55,000 hectares.
