The Asian market remains the main engine of the industry, led by South Korea and Thailand. These two countries account for 25% and 23% of Vietnam's total exports, respectively, with export growth rates to South Korea and Thailand at 17% and 24%.
Vietnam's exports of fish surimi and fish cakes to mainland China and Hong Kong amounted to 36 million USD, with a year-on-year growth of 45%, exports to the EU region increased by 79%, exports to Malaysia increased by 44%, and exports to CPTPP countries also showed double-digit growth.
According to a report by market consulting firm IMARC in September 2025, the global fish surimi market is valued at approximately 7.1 billion USD and is expected to reach 9.2 billion USD by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.9%.
The industry is also facing increasingly stringent requirements in traceability, sustainability certification, and food safety, which have become mandatory conditions for maintaining export positions.
Thailand, China, and Vietnam are the main exporting countries in the export field of such products.
Analysts from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers predict that the market is expected to continue growing at a rate of 5%-7% annually by 2026.
