Norway supplies the largest quantity, with 31,530 tons, accounting for 80%, followed by China with 3,596 tons, accounting for 9%, the UK with 1,557 tons, and the Netherlands with 1,167 tons.
The number of sources for frozen mackerel in the South Korean market has increased from 5 in 2024 to 12 now, including the aforementioned regions, as well as the Faroe Islands, France, Germany, and Russia.
South Korea is strengthening the diversification of mackerel sources to reduce its reliance on Norwegian mackerel.
