Thousands of Small-Scale Palm Oil Farmers Sue PP 45/2025 at the Supreme Court

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Thousands of small-scale palm oil farmers from four regencies in West Kalimantan and East Kalimantan officially filed a Judicial Review (Judicial Review) against Government Regulation (PP) Number 45 of 2025 at the Supreme Court (MA) on Friday (28/11) afternoon. This lawsuit is a strong rejection of the regulation which is considered to stifle the livelihood of the farmers. The lawsuit, represented by several selected farmers, highlights the severe penalty provisions, in the form of administrative fines of up to Rp 45 million per hectare. In addition, there is a serious threat of land seizure of smallholder plantations to be handed over to PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Agrinas Palma) through the Forest Area Regulation Task Force (Satgas PKH).
