Minister Wiersma has extended the sowing deadline for catch crops by three weeks for growers on sand and loess due to extremely wet spring weather conditions. This decision is part of the 7th Nitrate Directive Action Programme, and only applies to sugar beets cultivated on sand and loess from 1 November. The extension does not apply to clay soil. The decision was informed by an Expert Committee, and the Minister has written a letter to Parliament on the matter.
