Chloris is a weed seen in many productive areas of Argentina and, unfortunately for producers, there are many different species that are difficult to control.
Chloris Elata, Chloris Barbata, Chloris Virgata, and Chloris Ciliata are some of the biotypes or species belonging to the Chloris genus that have already been identified in various regions.
The first recommendation regarding the possible treatment of the weed is to accurately identify which Chloris species it is, in order to know how to manage it properly.
Eduardo Cortés, a specialist in weed and herbicide management, points out that "except for Chloris Virgata, the others are perennial (Chloris or Trichloris)".
Control
"Chloris species generally show high susceptibility to ALS herbicides in pre-emergence, and outside of those, some HPPD also work well. In post-emergence, it depends a lot on whether it is annual or perennial due to its regrowth. But applications of FOP (to a greater extent) and DIM and both mixed with glyphosate..."
