Argentina is set to transition from an analog and manual traceability system to a national Electronic Individual Traceability System for cattle, buffalo, and cervids, as per Resolution 71/2024 by the Ministry of Economy's Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries. The system, funded by international organizations and mandatory for all herds by July 2026, will enhance the livestock industry's production and export capabilities. The system will be voluntarily implemented from March 2025, with free electronic devices provided to producers. The technology is expected to streamline herd management, simplify health monitoring, and potentially relax vaccination requirements due to its detailed traceability. This initiative is part of a broader trend in South American livestock markets, with Uruguay, Australia, Paraguay, and Brazil's Pará state all adopting or planning to adopt similar systems.
