The Korea Forest Service will create an additional 20,000 hectares of nectar forests over the next five years to protect honeybees and support beekeeping. On World Bee Day, the Forest Service announced that it will expand nectar forests to contribute to timber production and biodiversity while supporting honeybee protection and the beekeeping industry. Nectar forests refer to trees from which bees collect honey and pollen. World Bee Day was designated by the UN in 2018 as an annual day on May 20th to raise awareness about the importance of bee protection. Honeybees play a crucial role in the ecosystem as pollinators and honey providers.
