To protect the livelihood and sustenance of thousands of Bulgarian farming families engaged in tobacco production in specific and unattractive living regions of the country, the National Association of Tobacco Producers – 2010 (NAT-2010) insists in a letter sent to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahkov on the occasion of the negotiations of the Eleventh Conference (COP11), November 17-22, 2025, Geneva, of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC). NAT-2010 also says that "the preliminary proposals in the preparatory Working Groups on the FCTC, such as the termination of public support for tobacco cultivation and the request to the EU and national authorities to be included in any talks, could affect the agricultural sector, such as raw tobacco, are quite worrying and discriminatory."
