In August 2024, Peruvian tomato exports saw a significant decrease due to reduced international demand, with no shipments made to the United States. The total export volume dropped by 53% to 2,332 tons, valued at $2.47 million, marking a 19% decrease in value compared to the same month in the previous year. The average price per kilogram of tomatoes also decreased by 42% to $1.10. The majority of the exports were in the form of paste, accounting for 77% of the share, while the remaining 23% was fresh tomato. Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil were the main recipients of the tomato shipments.
