Unusually cold weather in July and a decrease in supply have led to a significant increase in tomato prices in Ukraine, reaching their highest level in the past seven years, as reported by the Shuvar market in Lviv. This price hike is attributed to a reduced harvest, the end of the open ground season, and an increased demand for greenhouse tomatoes, with the situation expected to worsen in the coming weeks. The cost of salad tomatoes at the Shuvar wholesale market has doubled from UAH 25/kg to UAH 45/kg over the past year.
