Residents of Delhi-NCR experiencing high tomato prices, which have surpassed Rs 100 per kg, may soon find relief as increased supplies from Maharashtra are anticipated, according to Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare. The government is addressing the issue by selling tomatoes at a subsidized rate of Rs 65 per kg in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai through the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India (NCCF). Since October 7, NCCF has distributed approximately 10,000 kg of tomatoes at this rate. The government is actively monitoring price trends and will maintain retail interventions until prices stabilize, highlighting the seriousness of the current price hike and the administration's dedication to providing consumer relief during the festive season.
