LIVESTOCK FARMING The Lucense cooperative A Carqueixa has launched a proposal that seeks to save from oblivion one of the most powerful traditions of rural Galicia: the possibility of accompanying the last transhumant shepherds of Galicia on their journey through the Ancares Biosphere Reserve. This experience allows participants to join the cooperative's ranchers on a 20-kilometer route through wild areas of high ecological value, an opportunity that the entity defines as "an exclusive opportunity to be part of a millennial tradition that is on the verge of disappearing." The itinerary, which has a cost of 45 euros, allows visitors to get to know closely the daily life of Lucía, a worker of the cooperative, and Toño, its president, who keep alive the transfer of livestock to the high pastures.
