The US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service forecasts a promising grain harvest for Tunisia in the 2024/2025 marketing year, with an expected wheat production of 1.25 million tons due to favorable winter weather. This represents a significant improvement over the current season's yield. The Tunisian Grain Agency (ODC) manages the import and export of wheat, offering it at subsidized prices. Despite economic difficulties and a high dependency on wheat imports, Tunisia has secured international support for its wheat and barley needs. Additionally, the government has opened up barley imports to the private sector and formed the National Feed Board to bolster the livestock and poultry industries. In 2023, Tunisia's wheat imports included 459.7 thousand tons from Russia.
