Kyzyltan also clarified that in 2025, they plan to export 100,000 metric tons of trout, which will generate revenue of $650 million. In recent years, Turkish trout exports, mainly from the Black Sea, have significantly increased. In 2024, Turkey exported 95,289 tons of fish worth $572 million. In the first five months of 2025, over 30,000 tons of trout have already been shipped, bringing in more than $200 million.
The main part of the export is frozen trout, as fresh trout is only available for a short season. Russia remains the largest market, however, local producers are actively beginning to diversify export directions. While the global market faces salmon price declines, Turkey is seeking to strengthen its position after a significant increase in Norwegian salmon prices in early 2023.
