Cotton exports from Mato Grosso continue at an accelerated pace and consolidate the state as the largest cotton exporter in Brazil. In June 2025, 92.67 thousand tons of the product were shipped, the second-largest volume ever recorded for the month in the entire historical series. The performance reinforces the state's relevance to the natural fiber foreign trade. According to information from the Imea (Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics) newsletter, Mato Grosso was responsible for 69.77% of Brazilian cotton exports in the period. The main destinations were Bangladesh and Turkey, which imported 21.60 thousand and 19.21 thousand tons, respectively. In contrast, China, historically the largest buyer, significantly reduced its participation, with only 667 tons acquired — the lowest volume since July 2022.
