U.S. turkey hatchery numbers fell in July due to decreased demand, with a 9% decrease from August 2023. Despite this, there was a 4% increase in turkey eggs in incubators by August 2024 compared to July 2024. The number of poults hatched and placed during July also increased month-on-month but decreased year-on-year. The USDA estimates turkey production for 2024 at 5.115 billion pounds, a decrease of 342 million from 2023.
